Members of TRAVIS BRASS

One of the cornerstone ensembles the Band of the Golden West, Travis Brass has been delighting audiences in the Western U.S. for several decades. We are a brass quintet made up of two trumpets, a horn, a trombone and a tuba. Travis brass performs any style of music appropriate to the audience and event. We are highly mobile, cost effective, and possess a small footprint allowing us to support any mission the Air Force sends our way. As part of Air Force Public Affairs, we are charged with delivering the Air Force story to communities within our 7-state touring region of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Finally as professional musicians, we deliver excellence by providing entertaining, exceptional concerts and wide-ranging educational assistance for music educators and aspiring music students.

“We Support Our Troops”

Job #1 for the Travis Brass is to provide direct musical support for our troops. Whether we are performing at an event for thousands or just a few, the quintet offers the appropriate music essential to your next change of command, tattoo, graduation, dedication, promotion, memorial or retirement ceremony. Also, as one of our yearly offerings, the quintet performs carols at the many workplaces of our troops to provide cheer during the holiday season. In addition, Travis Brass boasts the knowledge and experience of military professionals with the ability to present all of this support in an overseas, forward-located or deployed environment.

“We Tell the AF Story”

When Travis Brass performs for the general public, we produce concerts that arouse patriotism and chronicle the Air Force story. We do this by celebrating our country’s heritage, honoring our veterans and representing our troops with the excellence and dignity they deserve. Regardless of the type of event, the concert’s theme or style of music, Travis Brass will demonstrate amazing virtuosity, marvelous showmanship, and charming personality allowing us to successfully engage and connect with audiences.

“We are Dedicated Music Educators”

Another duty Travis Brass takes very seriously is preserving our American music heritage by educating the musicians of tomorrow. Our members have many years of teaching experience whether as former music educators ranging from elementary school thru college, private lesson teachers, or as instructors for a myriad of ensembles. Travis Brass has many different ways of offering students the music instruction they need beyond performance skills. We offer group instruction such as K-6 general music master classes, as well as instrumental clinics and ensemble coaching for young musicians grades 6 through college.

“We Exhibit Excellence Wherever We Go”

Travis Brass is an outstanding ensemble to increase audience attendance by promoting your event through television and radio, for example our appearance on CBS’s Good Day Sacramento. The quintet further served as an ambassador of music excellence by performing as an artist at the 2012 National Brass Symposium. Additionally, Travis Brass’ brilliance was showcased on the Band of the Golden West’s chamber music recordings titled“Wood ‘n Brass” and “Bayside Bravura”.
